He'll eat within the next month, he is just taking a break due to the cooler nights, and the fact he's had girls on his mind. If you want to get him eating sooner, make sure his cool spot doesn't get lower than say 25 degrees, especially during the night. But make sure he still has access to that 25 if he wants it (i.e. don't have the entire cage heated to 30 degrees). But given time, he will start eating again, just as soon as he is ready. Most pythons, and especially Antaresia species, will go off their food over Winter when the cold nights hit.

Why would this be so. even though they would find some warm rocks etc.

That's right, in the wild it does get that cold and they stop eating. So to get him eating again you need to make the snake think it is warmer than it actually is outside, to do that you need to increase the temps, especially the night time temps, in his cage. But in a month from now, the temps will have risen naturally with Summer approaching, at which point he will start eating again on his own. So as i said, you can just let him be, and he will start eating again very soon, probably less than a month from now actually. Or you can raise the temps and get him feeding again sooner. Personally, i'd wait and let him start eating when he's ready.

It is very unusual to have to use braining with a 3yo snake. In the wild its no big deal if they dont eat for 4 or 5 months. If the snake has got to 3yo it will eat when the conditions, more than likely temperature, are right.
