Stimson's Python

Hey Guys,

I've just kinda inherited a snake from friend I've had experience with wild reptiles but not ones that I've kept in captivity.

Its about 70cm and i'm babysitting it for an undertimed period of time (friend's moving to thailand for a yr + yay) he got rid of his BHP which I loved, but he couldn't part with this beautiful girl.

What i want to know is am I able to keep two in a tank without any issues, except for dividing up for feeding.

She's an awesome feeding fed her two small ones last night, she coiled one the other she just went up to and opened her mouth he was so cute.

But any suggestions for reading material would be appreciated. I just have one concern that she's got some dark "ink" coloured scales on the bottom of her. It could be news paper print but any ideas

Hey, if you have plenty of hides in both the hot end and cool end and the snakes are the same size and breed and you watch them at first then I have seen lots keeped together, and seperating for a feed is always a good idea.

Care of Australian Reptiles in Captivity by John Weigel is a great starting point for books, has loads of info!

Hope this helps a little bit, I'm no expert tho about keeping them together, someone might give better advice, hope it all works out well for you!

Thanks guys for you help,

This is what she's in now, will upgrade around xmas time.

She's 78cm, and is in a 28L tub.

My only concern is she has a few scales that don't look right, you can sortof see them in this pic.

I'm using a friends digital camera as lens cracked, so trying to work out how to do macro however i'm affraid its scale rot.

I'll work it out and take pics.

RE: more pics

Heat is supplied by a heat mat, that covers 1/3 of the tank, and 1/2 just after feeding or during really cold weather.
