Strange BHP

The last couple of weeks my BHP acts strange when I handle him. For the first few months he was always calm and relaxed. Now when I get him out he coils around my hands as hard as he can, he never used to do this. Does anyone else have BHP's that do similar things?.

its not strange. and its not just BHP's that do it........
i have a 2 yr old carpet. she is extremly tame. never bitten. sometimes when i get her out she is happy to glide all over me and explore, but other times its like she is gripping on for dear life. maybe its just a insecurity with snakes. but its nothing to be alarmed about.

I'm not worried about the behavour. He never used to do it. It is like he is really trying to constrict my hands.

One of my macs do it from time to time. Seems to only do it when he is a little grumpy or when he is about to eat. So it may be in response to food.

All of my other snakes will wrap around my hands and arms just to support themselves but never constrict. My BHP constricts really hard and doesn't want to let go. I don't think its a feeding response.

Don't worry, one of mine, the female that bred this season, does it every now and then. Usually it acts just like any BHP and just sort of hangs in my hands but other times she wraps around quite hard.

I've had childreni do it. especially hatchies and juves. It's quite funny when they aren't even long enough to completely wrap around your wrist.

My BHP does it, and I notice it's only when he feels like he hasn't got a good hold on me, he will squeeze quite hard. The minute I put my hands under him to support he loosens his grip. The other time he does it is when my arm or hand is a little sweaty/sticky and he can't move real well on me he tightens his grip. Hope this helps.
