The previous owner has told me he handled her but when I go to get her out she gets a bit snappy! I have worked at the Australian Venom Zoo & while I was there I handled a Darwin Carpet that was wild. The owner of the zoo told me the only way to tame them is regular handling which I found also meant getting bit by the snake. It eventually became very easy for me to handle & I am wondering if that is the best way to do it, I have learnt that the owner of the zoo is a bit............. I"ll leave that there. My snake is 6ft long & I think if she bites I am really going to know about it, any advice is greatly appreciated. She is not my first snake, I also have a little spotted Python{ his name is sneaky} but he is very docile & has only bitten me once when he was not expecting me to touch him, looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help .

Regular handling is pretty much the only way to do it. Some people have suggestted putting something with your smell in the enclosure, such as a sock (not worn all day - think of the snake! Lol) will help get the snake used to you and your smell. I've never done it, preferring to just handle them.
When you're handling your snake, just make sure it's facing away from you, so it has less chance of striking at you. Also, move slowly, never make any sudden moves, and if the snake somehow manages to focus in on something you definitely don't want bitten (ie. your face), move your hand or foot to get the snake's attention.
Good luck with your new snake! Pics, pics!! Got any pictures of Sneaky? I love spotteds.
