There is hope

I have been struggling with one of my carpet python hatchies from 1 year and 3 months ago, it was the only one of the clutch that i couldnt get feeding (it was the runt and i honestly thought there was somthing wrong with it).
I have kept it alive with force feeding for over a year, and i was seriously thinking about putting it down.

Anyway long story short....it ate by itself tonight i am so stoked, cause i realy didnt want to have to put it down.

Persistance finnaly payed off

Yeah mate i have a yearling MD that is no bigger than a hatchie. She has eaten about 3 times in the whole year. Considering when you look at her boyfriend and he is 3 foot.

Over the last year i have exausted every feeding tecnique known.

The last couple of weeks when changing the water it was snapping and bit me twice.

Anyhow the only thing different that i can think of is;

I was trying to feed a fuzzy mouse to a new hatchie i purchased (for about 10 mins) and it had no interest, so instead of trowing the fuzzy away, i thought i might try and give it to the non eater.
Then i just dangeled it by the tale and kept hiting the snake in the front third of its body and head (gently lol) and after a couple of mins it opened its mouth a lttle bit and tryed to bite it,
i kept going and it bit and coiled the fuzzy.
Then i left it in the dark for 15 minutes and the rest is history

Maybe it was the scent of the other snake, maybe it was just ready....i dont know.

But i hope it keeps eating now

Cheers
