i put my NT's together today and i was a little surprised at the reaction. after about 10 mins the female was crawling all over the male and she was tickling him. i thought that the male was meant to do this??

I too thought the male was supposed to crawl over the female and tickle her, maybe whoever sold you the snakes mis sexed them.

no i am pretty sure that the snakes are the sexes they are meant to be. i brought them off two different breeders so i don't think they would both be wrong?

cheers

Could happen, it has happened to me just recently. Maybe seeing that you do volunteer work, you could get one of the guys at the reptile park to sex them, for peace of mind.

When you say she was tickling him how was she doing it? With her spurs?
My female water will thump her tail on the ground when she ready to mate or if the male isn't interested.

Is it possible that you or one of the breeders missidentified the snakes and got the female mixed up with the male?

Yeah i'd say thats it, you probably still have a pair as male carpets of all kinds like a good fight during breeding season. Sounds like a mix up.

tickling

hey m.m

sounds to me like the sexes are mixed, spuring is a male tendency.

and just to confuse the issue..lol males will try and mate with other males..lol last year we used one of two young male bhps as a teaser. on putting him back with another young male he did the cortship thing and then coupled with that male several times .So not all males will fight during the breeding process and if they do it can be very diferant degres some will wrestle others bite repeatedly.
m.m not saying you have two males. but i would say the one thats doing the tickling is a male though.
cheers paul
