Time In Click Clacks

Just curious. How long do people keep their snakes in a click-clack before transfering them to a more permanent enclosure?

Now don't take this as criticism but the answer really is common sense. When the snake looks like it is too big for the click clack then you put it in something bigger. There is no amount of time a snake should stay in a particular box, it depends on species and how much you feed it and how fast or slow it grows.

I saw your great enclosure on here it would be a waste not to let the snake enjoy it's new home.
But some may disagaee - as long as there are heeps of hides the snake should fine.
If it's eatting when it should I'd say let it out into the new enclosure.
Try it for a couple of weeks.
If it turns off it's food put it back in the Click Clack

if your thinking of putting a small snake into a larger enclosure first thing you want to do is seal that thing right up (excluding air vents) i have had a 6 month old childrens excape from an enclosure i now use to house my 4ft carpet python, you will be amazed at some of the places snakes can get when they want to, i.e i have found my 3yr old spotted trying to get in the light cage and getting pretty close to the "danger zone" (good thing i have turned heat off for the bigger snakes)

That is one thing that does concern me. I have seen him squeeze through some very small openings around the edge of the Universal Rock wall I have at the back. I have now sealed all of that (I hope!!). I am now concerned about the gap between the two glass doors, where they overlap in the tracks, if you know where I mean. Just looking at the gap there, is about the same gap he was getting through in the wall! He is about a 12 month old Bredli. To be on the safe side I have left him in his click-clack!

Cheers, Fester

A 12 month old Bredli SHOULD be too big for a click clack. What are you feeding it and how often ?

get a piece of marine carpet about 2 cm wide and long enough to run from the bottom to the top of the doors. When the enclosure is closed slide the carpet in the gap between the doors.

I have only had this one for about a week. He was sold as "12 month old juvenile". I just measured him, about 600mm long. He took a weaner mouse yesterday. He just seems much more comfortable in the click-clack. Put him in the large enclosure, even though he has plenty of hides, and he appears to be constantly searching for somewhere to get out! He was in a click-clack size "box" when I bought him. Maybe not 12 months old!

He could only be a 12 month old or a hatchie.....I'm tipping an underfed 12 month old. Seen some MD's just like that not long ago, the guy saying they were last years hatchies and they were only about 35cm long.

i'd say a yearling that has not been fed up so the shop didnt have to feed and sell a bigger snake!
where did u get him from?
my bredli is 13 months old and he was measured approx 1m last weekend (give or take a few cms)
i was in the shop that he came from on thursday and saw his sister who is still heaps heaps smaller than he is!

You can get clear plastic tube from bunnings or mitre10 and slice it down the middle long ways, then when the door is shut just put the tube in the gap, it works a treat (unless your husband forgets to put it back while your away and your maccie escapes through the gap!)

or some of that furry weather stripping stuff. it is sticky on one side. just cut it to length (leave a gap for the lock) and stick it in place

i just use garden hose sliced down the middle.... it might not look the best, but it is practical and not permanent because soon enough the snake will grow too big to squeeze out the hole....
