Looking great wokka. Are they from TB or did you breed them yourself?

Rob bred them. I bought the colony including the eggs at the time so I now have a hard act to follow. My conony seem to perform better than any of the others out there. I dont know if its the snakes or the Keeper but I am following a lot of Robs principles. Gone are the thermostats and they are in two joined 4 foot cages to achieve a REAL temperature gradient.

Great stuff Wokka you got yourself something many can only dream about!I've also changed to a similar method using heat lamps just regular 40 watt red party globes heating the cage above and i can only have em two cages high so it suits me fine and each cage has a divider with a hole for a nice warm end and cool end. We'll see how well it works this season i have a few things planned, the only animals that i don't have a divider in is with my bhp's as they have a sort of good divider with the hide i use, polysyrene box which may just have to be changed i'll see how i go but they seem to thrive how they are and bred once i just stuffed up incubation!

Congrats wokka, they are one animal i'd love but just a bit large for me to handle alone!!

[quote=boa;1122882]No problem at all. Yes it most definitely a pet shop ploy. I recently sold a hatchling to a complete novice and he told me about the set up a pet shop informed him his snake would absolutely need to survive. Needless to say it included expensive UV lighting.

At the pet shop I work, I tell all the people that get snakes off us or are setting up enclosures that it is a wast of money. And to put the $130 towards a bigger enclosure, Better thermostat, ect. So not all pet shops sell unneeded things for reptiles.

Very nice olives

I think he was talking about the albino darwins - where there is still yellow markings. However (directed at Kirby) having yellow markings still qualifies as albino - yellow is not melanin.

good to see these guys are starting to be bred in larger numbers. i cant wait to get a pair one day.

rob- is the transformation from yellowishy to white an age thing or more of a size or maturity thing? would be interesting if it is hormonally related to maturity and therefor breeding age....

Jason, it seems to be more bettween a size/age thing, as in the pic of them mating you will see that the male is still very yellow and the female is white. He still knocked up her and a het female so its not a maturatiy thing.
Hes a year younger than the female.

So the yellow/white albino Darwins are not 'real' albinos?
