I have all my vens currently in top opening enclosures rather then the front opening. I have noticed lots of keepers use the front opening without drama's. I am thinking of changing a about a dozen tubs for the visionariums for my smaller elapids. I understand that it depends on the experience of the handler and the attitude/type of the snake but I am confortable putting these select few snakes in front opening enclosures. If i had an aggressive or new elapid I'd defently be putting it in a top opening enclosure and would recomened top opening enclosures to bigginers. What are your thoughts?

It opens from the top & on outside has a door latch on both ends. At the top behind the door it also has a place to put a hook and other stuff you may need at hand.
The branches & hide box aren't exactly ven-set up but thought you might like to see the enclosure. It is 4x2x2.5H

I also use top opening and front opening enclosures for elapids. Top opening is safer, front opening is more convenient for cleaning.

Like the way u think AlexC, It wouldnt be that had to do both to an enclosure or much more expensive as long as you were handy with wood etc. |

It's pretty easy to use both, but it's more hassle than it's worth, at least according to my preferences. My top opening ones have removable fronts, the glass can be pulled up and out, although you can't open the front without opening the lid.
