Do people cross them or are they seperate bloodlines? |

Other than that they tend to be MD, same size and temperment. People do cross them, I don't think that there are many "pure" SA MD in captivity. There is also a Flinders range carpet which is reddish, about half way between a MD and a bredli. To save people from PMing me, I haven't got any photos - sorry. |

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO REPTILES OF AUSTRALIA.
By Steve Wilson & Gerry Swan.
There is a pic of a MD with nice reddy colouring through it.
Fuscus would that be the Flinders range MD?
Very nice. Those whitish rosettes look awesome.
If anyone has something similar would love to see some more pic's of them. |

Its getting close to the season so there is lots of deasert hiking coming up. I know a couple of areas where both varities should be, but they have declined dramatically and are very hard to find. Checkout the Inland Carpets in the photo gallery in the link below, they have a bit of variation and there's also a couple of pics of a Gammon Ranges carpet...Is this the same looking animal as the Flinders Ranges carpet you've mentioned Fuscus? http://www.southernxreptiles.com/

Southern Cross is run by Doc Rock, who has articles in the current Reptiles in Oz magazine.
But the web site isn't running properly from this computer, it works at home, i'll check it out then. |

the women in SA are fantastic,
the weather is better than Melbourne (not that that says much),
incredible calm water and surf beaches.
But the fishing is strange, I go out to fish for tailor and I always come back with Aussie salmon |

So you were right, twice.
But carpets are so varible in color, I'm sure its not a 100% reliable guide |

| MDs and Vics are the same thing! Most 'Vics' don't come from Victoria. Just like not all 'coastals' come from anywhere near the coast etc etc.
