Warning over killer kangaroos

I haven't heard of this before. Did they issue a fridge magnet or something?

"it [is] not unusual for kangaroos to flee into water if they felt under threat and, as a last defence, they would try to drown their predator with their powerful hind legs."

really?? Wouldn't mind hearing if anyone heard of this over here From my experience in the states, the only news items about Aus that reach there are the strange ones. When sharks were in Sydney Harbour once, they were "infesting the nation's capitol"... :roll:

i'm sorry but isn't that just plain old common sence?
Kangaroo = wild animal
Dogs = domesticated animal

domesticated animal who is loud and chase things scare wild animal, wild animal defends and protects, domesticated animal gets hurt.

people are stupid sometimes, you should keep your dog on a leash at all times, and it has to be supervised.

the poor kangaroo is doing what comes naturaly.

i have been attacked by a kangaroo so i am not being biased

This used to be quoted quite often when I was a kid but I have never been shown emperical evidence. I have seen kangaroos flee across water ( over large river stones too ) and they can move quite quickly if the water is less than half a meter deep. It would take an excitable and stupid dog to chase a large animal into deep water but the are no shortage of excitable and stupid dogs.

But remember kiddies, kangaroos can be dangerous animals. If you do want a kangaroo to attack you, just approach a male animal bent over then straighten up and show your chest. This is the standard male kangaroo threat display. I suggest you have your medical insurance paid up fully before you try this. :wink:

I've heard of Kangaroos drowning dogs a few times. Hardly suprising as they've had experience defending themselves against Dingo's over the centuries.
