What could it be????????????????????

The attached pic was sent to me with the question as to what I thought the big lump or bulge in the snake's belly is.

Any thoughts???????????????

Looks like it is haveing or had a bad slough.
It could ovulation or a big meal.

mmm... BHP with a big meal. pity someone beat me to the "other BHP". so I'll have to guess that its a hybrid of some sort. reptile of course.

No guarantee still though, I have seen a few ovulating BH's that had heaps of mating before and after ovualtion that produced nothing

Yeah, I told my mate that I reckoned it was ovulation, he hasn't fed it for something like 4 months.

JasonL..........as far as I know once a snake ovulates it has to lay eggs, it's not unusal to see bhp's swell up with follicle development and for some reason not ovulate. I've no idea why this happens, I've been told lots of different reason.

Once a snake ovulates it will lay eggs, ovulation is when egg follicles move down and get fertilised.
Alot of people will mistake follicle development as ovluation as females swell up, females can reabsorb egg follicles for whatever reason if they don't feel conditions are right for egg laying.
Once ovulation occurs females will lay, they ca become egg bound if things aren't good enough but it's not that common.
