What snakes in my area?

Our neighbour just saw a "6 foot black snake" leaving our property. Heading on to his...towards his dam.

Where can I find out what sort of snake it might have been? Like a list of photos?

He got a fairly good look at it because he slowed down to let it cross the road.

Red bellies are fairly widespread so he's probably right. They are unmistakeable really. But you will find it hard identifying it because you didn't see it yourself. Take a friend and go walk around your property. Thats the best way to find what lives there. I also recommend a book called "A complete Guide to Reptiles of Australia". Great dictionary of our native reptiles & where they are found.

BTW - if you go wandering, don't forget to carry first aid gear with you.
