hi
im new to herpetology and I'm planning to get a python in due time. Im not quite shore what sort I should get so i came up with these points which I would definately want in my python.
1. calm and placid especially around people and can be handled a lot .
2. good in captivity
3. grows to around 2m in length (long snakes are cool )
4. not too expensive (eg. less than $350)
hopefully some experienced person would be able to come up with a python with includes these points
thanks

My first was a coastal carpet, best snake I have had, sadly I lost him to some kind of infection. They can get up to 3m but usually around 7-9ft. Any snake can be placid or aggressive. Just go for the one that you like the look of most. You'll end up getting your second soon after anyway.

Someone... i think MrBredli??? has a big spiel that is pasted onto these pages usually with good (but long) info on first snake choices for some of the more popular beginner snakes. If you do a search for 'first snake' you may be able to find it?

...you should also understand that all snakes have the potential to bite. Most will be a little snappy when young but calm down a lot as they mature...

i started out with a bredli then got a coastal, and have another bredli on the way in a week or so. Can't go wrong really with either breeds, although as mentioned every snake is an individual, and can/will bite whenever it wants to.
