IMO when it gets to about two and a half foot it should be ready to go.

RE: when can i go full size cage

There is no reason why can't put a snake in its final enclosure from day one.

that said if you do the sanke can start stressing, stop eating and a whole lot of other health and stress issues.

Being a mac, and not even a year old, i would say at a ball park figure at least another year.

Also what is your idea of its final enclouse? i.e sizes ?

I agree with this, just make sure you have lots and lots of hides for the snake to access (both in hot and cold areas) and it feels safe moving from one spot to another, so lots of plants (fake or real).

RE: Re: RE: when can i go full size cage

in my opinion its all up to the snake. my spotted pythons (i have 2) have been in a cage measuring 1001mm in height, 870mm in length, and 580mm in width since they were about 1yo. dunno how this sounds on paper but looking at it you could fit a great, great many of spotteds in there. 1 year later and measuring longer than the cage is wide they act no different than they did when i put them in there. people say hight does not mater for this species but my snakes spend as much time if not more up branches than they do on the ground. i spose my point is if u have their final cage there, put them in it as long as they keep eating (light, heat, and hide boxes permited)!

my final encolsure size is going to be around 900x600x600. my baby is just over 1 1/2 feet at the moment and needs a bigger tub than she is in now. I might start building her final enclosure soon and if she does go off her feed etc i could always put in a divider to make it smaller and her more comfortable i guess

My Bredli hatchlings went into their 3' enclosure from day 1and never had a problem. Give them enough hide boxes and let them do their thing.

hey i have two coastals bnoth are 4 months old and have been living in their enclosure since i got them. the enclosure is 1000 (long) x 600 (high) x 500 (wide). they have been very happy as far as i can see eating and all that. they never use there hids just sit out all day and night. i think it depends entially on the snake.

I have always put my snakes into larger enclosures from the time they start eating properly. I have never had any worries with it. As mentioned though jst make sure there is plenty of hidey holes.
