I saw an older Jungle the other day, approaching 8 years, and while her skin was not as bright as a young snake, she had a calm self assuredness and maturity, plus an enormous fat head (kind of liike me in my middle age).
This led me to ask the question, given pythons can live to 30 years, where are all the old snakes? I never see any pythons over about 6 years for sale. Is this because: the hobby is relatively new and there aren't many CB old boys and girls around, are people hanging on to them for breeding or are they dying young?

All my friends assured me that the govt regulations called for all my snakes to be burnt.
I lost all those morphs i worked soooooo hard on.
And i know Weigal wouldnt lie to me. He told me to give him my GTPs and he'd dispose of them properly.
actually now it makes me wonder. did anyone else dispose of nearly there whole collection?

Maybe they just get snapped up before they reach the open market?

I am not surpised that antaresia, so-called "freak snakes", would not look different with aging, although they probably get a bit more forgetful. I also have a 5 year old Stimmie who could be 2.

This boy was hatched in 95
a 92 model
This was the oldest I've ever had, she was brought in the country as an adult WC in 90. so she was in her twenty's when she passed away last year
So there are some geezers around.. Randy |
