I also agree with the above statement. I love the colours in the GTP. Did you ever breed with it?

i overherd some guy at the expo saying that his womas were 11 and had breed for the past 9 years, so the old snakes are around, but i think its just because if youve had a snake long enough for it to be that old, you wouldnt want to sell it.

What a great question - I've wondered the exact same thing! I think it would be in part because of developing an attachnment to an older snake, but in part that licensing laws to allow the general public to keep snakes as a hobby have only really loosened up in the past 10 years, (the number of keepers has also skyrocketed in his period) I guess in the next decade we will see older and older snakes around, although not necessarily for sale.

im so confused was that joke when he said all old snakes had to be put down? if its true... why the heck did that happen thats horrible what sort of plague was it and what would have happend if they didnt put snakes down? i will feel so gullible if that was a joke :S

LOL yeah, I think he was taking the p!ss... Although that's what happened with all the grapevines in Francat the turn of last century - and that's nearly as tragic!!!

Have a pair of 15yo bhps and a pair of 16yo darwins.Both pairs still produce big healthy clutches and are still going strong.

You want old snakes, come to my house. I have at least 30 way over 15 years old, and some close to 25 years old. My old Olive female bred for 15 years straight, and its only the last 2 years she has failed to breed. My oldest would be Collin, a colletts, who was bred by Neil Charles in 1981. Still going strong.
