i spent 3 months talking me wife into lettin' me have snakes. finally she said " only one and it stays in the garage". 12 months later, i have 4 and 3 almost on the way and that have a dedicated bedroom. just started a mice breading program and about to start rat production. to top it all off she even drapes em round her neck as SHE cleans out the enclosures!!!!!. in short hang in there coz they are addictive

as i said before find out from them why you cant and make it so they cant use any of those excuses...
dont like mice and rats= i'll buy them the same day as i feed them. that way they'll be in the house for about an hour a week... or less.
What about mess and smell= i'll clean their enclosure every week (or when it needs doing)
I'm scared= i'll get a great enclosure that i can lock so the snake wont get out... also tell them your more likely to get bitten by a pet dog then a pet snake (with the right handeling)
what about noise= quieter then a dog, cat, bird... etc
what about $$$$$= i'll pay for everything!!!
if they come up with any other excuses let us know and we'll try and help you out.

I as begging my parents for a snake since i was 4, always loved 'em, problem was mainly vens, anyhoo cut to 21 years later and i have a snake, in the end i gave up asking about it, so i bought it for my girl friend's birthday!
And my mum is scared stiff of snakes, so now she stays out of my space, generally doesn't bug me, it's great!
I think sometimes if you really love something, and you really want it, you gotta roll the dice and go for it!

Isn't it funny how it usually always is the mum that is terrified!
Wonder why that is?

My wife wont let me have a crocodile but that's about it. My parents bought me my first 'proper' snake many years ago, a Reticulated Python hatchling, still one of my favourites. Just try to show them you are responsible and show some knowledge and they should slowly come around.
