why do you breed ?

just wondering why breeders do breed reptiles

i think i'd only do it if i kept expensive reptiles (bhp/gtp), to cover the costs of the animals

so y do you guys breed your reptiles ?

Nobojono,
I started off breeding reptiles, because years ago the only reptiles available were Wild caught, and breeding was something that seemed hard to do at the time, so I wanted to give it a go.

Nowadays, there are loads of people breeding reptiles and I done it because I wanted to expand my collection and cover my running costs, in reality unless you are working with the expensive snakes, your costs might not be fully covered, but you accept this as part of animal/pet keeping.
Saying that, I used to make a nice bit of money not only selling expensive snakes, but by selling the so callled Bread and butter snakes, like your coastals, out here there something that most would reccomend if a newby wants to get a nice sized starter snake, and so if you bred them and got say 14 egg's and say 12 hatched and sold them at $150 a pop, then you can use that money to say buy a pair of balck heads and so the chain continues.
Reptiles keeping I have found can be very addictive, and the thrill of breeding your own is very exciting, even after years I still get excited seeing there little heads pop out from the shell's, and maybe , just maybe you might be lucky enough to get an unusual one like an albino, in which case you either breed it, or sell it for a packet.

PS. (When I mentioned Wild caught I was refering to when I was living in the UK)

the enjoyment and the pleasure like raising a snake than breeding it to have more babies

I started off with a diamond python 2 1/2 years ago. I now have a rapidly expanding collection and as it grows I want to breed them for the experience. Having a hobby as great as this and to be able to cover all your costs says enough in it self

I breed my pythons (olives, bredli, darwins, maculosus) because its pretty satisfying seeing that my animals are happy and healthy enough to want to (financial gain is a plus), also easier than kids, no late night feeds/changing, and alot quieter
