If I was limited in time I would hover around Cairns itself
Early morning in the botanic gardens can be an eye opener
Not uncommon to see smaller crocs and plenty of lizards etc
Headlight trip after dark always shows a few snakes
Crystal Cascades is close to Cairns and plenty of life if you wander off the track a bit
Casino has a few snakes etc on display upstairs
Mud flats/mangrove have mud skippers etc etc etc
Mosman Gorge is one of my favourite places on Earth but 1 1/2 hour trip plus maybe 3 hours to have a good quiet wander so make sure you allow enough time

Peter, it's too cold for all that now, 18 at night. Small crocs at the botanical gardens? If there ever is one, it gets removed by the Rangers quick and smart. There are some corrupted turtles at Centenary Lakes though, take some bred with you. There are no snakes at the casino any more, they re-furbish the place, it's crap now - they put in a flyingfox over the croc pen - brilliant.

Hi Micheal
I forget that you have winter
Shame about casino
It was quick and easy
Oh well just so long as Josephine Falls Boulders and Paronella never change I'll be happy
