Baby Beardie Colour Change

Hi Everyone,

This is probably a real beginner question but do baby Central Bearded Dragons change colour? We brought these 2 babies that were from a yellow phase mum and dad and they were really light and you could see some yellow in them. (they are 5 weeks old) On Saturday we brought a log and some fake plants for their enclosure and they have turned really dark grey so that they blend in on the log and the one that sits in the plant is even darker. Will they go back to the lighter colour? Thanks for your help in advance.

Baby bearded dragons change colour on a regular basis, As do adult dragons. On most occasions they will go a darker colour when basking or depending on mood.Wait till feed time , and they should lighten up considerably.

Thanks guys, I just feed them and they have turned a lighter colour as you said. We are on a big learning curve with them, but having heaps of fun with them.

They change colour from when they are young to when they are adults as well as changing for environmental influences.

When they're growing also you'll notice they get more vibrant as each shed passes. It's like Christmas Morning sometimes when your beardie sheds - you never know what's going to be under the wrapping! Good Luck with them, they will colour up in time I'm sure...

When do they shed? Do we need to do anything different for them?
