| | | Hey guys, Just purchased a baby bearded dragon and when I try to pick him up he just ***** out and bolts to the other side of the enclosure . I have tried hand feeding to get him used to being around me but he won’t eat out of my hand. I have had him almost a week now. Would appreciate it if anyone had any tips they could give me. Cheers Rowska |

its small, it see's you asa potential threat. Give it time, try to hand feed him and handle him for short periods every few days and it should settle down within a few weeks.

best leave it alone, don't handle them at all till they are used to humans and captivity, might take two weeks might take two months, and every now and then you find one that never settles in well. You will not need to "tame" your beardy though, they settle in by themselves, even wild caught adults usually settle in and look like they have been in captivity their whole lives in a couple of months.

If your habitat is glass all the way around... put a backing on it-on the 3 sides...leaving the front open,a piece of wrapping paper works well
make sure he is able to hide behind things ....but you are sill able to get to him as well
a thick stump works well...some like a cave,some dont
when they are hatchies ...often taking them out to feed in a feed tank is enough to get them used to handling
using a feed tank helps make them less skittish as you are not taking out their habitat furniture every time to feed..-live insects hide in habitat furniture & often can lead to trauma & healthproblems if left with beardie
if your hatchie is 2 weeks old you would be feeding it 4-5 times a day...letting them eat as much as it wants ...even if they dont eat -give them the oppertunity
