Hi Nikki,

I wonder what weight the pygmy's need to be to breed. Might have to do some research on that one.

I think my little ones are about 4 months old and at the moment they're only about 50mm stv.

Hello

Hello,

Breeding a brother & sister is not wise, as it is inbreeding & can lead to physical deformities & other health problems.
Just my opinion though.

Hi,

I would avoid breeding anything that is related as the same DNA makeup can cause some serious issues and have the possibly of producing deformed young . Genetics just doesn't agree as it's not what anything living is meant to do.

That being said.... they are your dragons and you can pretty do what you want.

cheers,
Andy

Its usually advised against but most animals that are 'line bred' for particular traits are actually inbred back ith parents or siblings. As long as ytou advise anyone who buys them that thay are from related parents,I dont see a problem.

However I would not cross the babies you get from your pair again as you will probably find a high instance of birth deformities and that ca be quite distresing watching them die or having to euthanise them.

Maybe swap one or 2 babies with someone else who has dragons unrelated to yours to bring some new genes in?

Have fun

wild populations interbreed all the time so there is no problem and no defromities, same dna make up wont cause issues some island lizard populations have interbred for hundreds of years and kept thriving
