goana info needed

hey all, was just wondering if u need to suppliment captive goana diets with anything ? for example i tihnk u need to suppliment bearded dragon diets with that calcium powder?? (i tinhk? lol)

is this the same for goanas ?

Depends on what you're feeding it to begin with, and what species. The larger species like Lacies, Sands and Heaths can be raised on rodents and calcium will be obtained from the rodents bones. But smaller species being feed on insects and dogfood will need a calcium supplement.

thanks guys for that,

serpent, how do insectivorious goanas obtain calcium in the wild ? say if u feed them crickets in captivity & have to suppliment it with calcium powder, how do they get it in the wild if they only eat insects ?

If you do not add calcium supplement, you will need too provide natural UV. Reptiles need it too abosrb calcium, this is what the D3 does in the supplement. So, if you are keeping large monitors inside, you will need too supply a supplement anyway
