As a short term thing the pads are good, even for beardies and especially for hatchlings. As long as you can get them outside in the sun a couple of times a week a basking spot isn't necessary. With a calcium supplement and access to the sun they'll be fine. In the long term a basking spot is much better though.

if the beardie was to get uncomfortable from the heat it would move wouldnt it?I ask because i have read that when using hotrocks they tend not to know they are getting burnt is this really true.anyways thanks.

i hate heatpads and hotrocks they sux beardies movve into different temperatures i watch mine outside in there pretty big pit all the time
