V.tristis go for $250-500 each, V.g.flavirufus are the same, and V.gilleni between $150-300. You'll be able to find photo's on Matt Bonnetts website - if you Google his name you'll find it.

Cheers

Luke - Not too many Monitors were getting around this season...it seems the rate for Gillens this year was at the higher end of the scale with most being sold around the $300 mark...

hi Luke,
great to hear that you are going to get a monitor, i have ackies, sandys, blackheads (varanus tristas) and mertens, just remember that although they dont grow at a great rate each has a different type of enclosure, i see that you were thinking of a sand monitor - have you thought about a spencers they are very nice looking but they have an excellent temperament - although sand monitors if gotten young can be quite good they are not as even tempered as a spencers,
Cheers

varinidae: cool...i wish i had enought money ...thats why im saving!!! yea, gotta love the sandies...i would like to but here in NSW they are class two, if i could i would get every monitor, they are just so cool! yea, ive heard they are a bit flighty, the guy down at canberra exotics (i went there specially) said he had a good one, but when it had enough, it would latch onto him until it was at it enslosure!!! i thought that was cinda cute!

what do you think of black head, i can't find much info on them....kind of bugs me abit!

cheers,

Luke

What about the ridge tailed monitors (v.acanthurus?) They have some awesome reds, oranges, yellows and are a small-medium sized monitor.

I have heard rumours that they may be moving down as well with a few others, NPWS are pretty much overhauling the system soon apparently.

I didn't belive it as well, i was told it by one of my aunties friend who work with national parks. supposidly it willbe happening when they introduce the commercial licence pet shop thingy they will be redoing the list. I hope they change it, Im pretty sure a decent sized sand is more dangerous than a lacy or spencers on class and sandys are on class one
