From what i heard they are quite rare and they are isolated to one small valley so unless thats been disclosed or I'm wrong and they are common it will be hard to find them.

And according to Glenn Shea, they retreat into their burrows as soon as they feel the vibrations of your nearby footprints, so you very rarely see them at all. I think someone mentioned a while back that Adelaide museum has some in captivity? Why don't you go get friendly with them?

I also believe (not 100% certain) that most of the colonies have been found in farm land. You just cant walk onto the properties and have a look.

Make sure that you watch the new doco by Sir David Attenborough.."Life in Cold Blood".
They have been filmed for that doco.

The main area where excessive searches took place was in Burra, SA. OzGecko is correct and many were found in harvested paddocks on properties with low growing crops. I was told by a reptile keeper at Adelaide Zoo that the species was only hekld by them and that they have had NO luck in breeding them. Not sure how true that is....

Not to be harsh Reptile Boy but I doubt you will have any luck finding them.

In fact it is along the fence lines of crop fields in a narrow band where no cultivation has taken place.

I was told that by the reptile keeper at Adelaide Zoo and there was an article on this exact issue in an Australian Geographic.

Ryanharvey1993,
Yes, they also lured them out with locusts tied to finshing rods (or the like). Would be quite funny to catch a lizard on the end of the line.
