Some Delma molleri photos

Heres some photos of a few Delma molleri I found over the last few days.

My absolute favourite species! Just wish they were in captivity. Please bare with me as my photographing skills haven't gotten any better. Just for the Pygopod lovers!

Enjoy!

Cheers Paul. Shame they aren't in captivity, there aren't many Delma in captivity at all.

Still no forum dedicated to wild herp photography.....

Regards,
David

Hello David,
I have only ever encountered one animal in the open during the day. It was high in a dry grass tussock early in the morning. The rest I have found were beneath fallen tree trunks or rocks submerged into the ground. According to Stephen Swanson's Field Guide to Reptiles of Australia, their active periods change depending on the season; nocturnal in Summer, diurnal in Winter etc etc or just crepuscular. They are extremely shy and very aggressive for such a small animal! They have quite the bite on them to! I don't find them that often so when I can manage to find some, its very good! I managed to find the 2 pictured in under 30 minutes which was even better!

Hello Gurds,
In SA it is possible to obtain what is known as a 'Take from the Wild Permit'. I have already looked into them and there are alot of issues and departments that look at applications before initially approving them. Take from the wild Permits in SA are only approved for species that are kept in extremely low numbers in captivity or to establish a not yet kept species. They have quite the cost on them to. There is a member of this site who has had success in obtaining one of these permits for another species, perhaps he can shed some light on the issue....

Thanks guys for the great comments. Just wishing Jordo would see this thread... LOL

Great pics Shawn. I know this is a little off topic mate, but can you tell me what legless lizards there are in captivity that will take insects readily?!
