Can anyone tell me whats going on when a beardie is basking and he has his nose pointing right up almost like he is trying to touch his back with the back of his head? |

|  | Space Cowboy Subscriber | Join Date: Jan-07 Location: Sydney Gender:  | | | | Shan - I have found my Beardies in all sorts of ridiculous positions when basking - even more so when sleeping...the Beardie usually just finds a position where it soaks up heat well - the position you describe is fairly standard...

Mine are up and about during the day (napping for a while of course) but hunker down and sleep all night with no activity levels...occasionally I hear a minor movement but just seems to be getting comfortable whilst sleeping

Hello,
One main reason they like to bask while sitting straight up with their head pointed up is because they absorb more UVB through their ventral side such as their beard, chest & chin area than they do their back because of thinner skin & less scales there.
