Free: Golden Tailed Gecko

Hi all,

Well i have 1 Golden Tailed Gecko (Strophorus Taenicauda) that i am contemplating giving away for free- to a good home of course.

Sadly this unfortunate chap is deformed. It has a deformed front right leg (will have to check now that i think of it). Its clutch partner also came out deformed, but so bad i had to put it out of its misery.

Basically i'm wanting to know if there is anyone here who would like this young chap should i decide to get rid of it. At this stage it appears to be doing ok, shedding and eating- and only impaired by movement. This is of course at this stage- i have no idea how this little guy will go down the road- but for now is going ok.

The only condition i have is that he go to someone with prior experience with geckos- more definitive, with the Strophorus species. Bascially so they are aware of the gex needs. No first timers.

Please PM if interested stating your case.

There is no 100% guarantee that i will be offloading- as i will not offload if i think he is struggling to much or health is deteriorating.

Awwww....sorry to hear that Twiggz, I had a little one hatch out last year that had a squiffy leg, he got around just fine, hope you find an experienced home for him.

Temps

hi Twiggz,

Just wondering what temps the eggs were at? Sounds like the temps may have been a bit high.

They were incubated at between 28 and 29 deg.
I have great discussion regarding the cause of such abnormalities with spongebob and sparticus over recent weeks. I tend to think that maybe a temp spike may have been to blame?

Does anyone have any say on the matter? Talking from experience of cause.
It really has me puzzled since all my milii came out in perfect condition.

It was the golden pairs first clutch however. Would this play a part?

PM if you any ideas on this deformity matter please.

Yeah saz, the leg itself is fully formed- just the base whether his toes are, the pad is like the wrong way round and he can't balance on it. Hard to explain really.

Hi there Twiggz. Yes being the first clutch may have played a part. Maybe the eggs were damaged by the parents of transporting them, maybe it was too hot, it could be a number of things. But theyre still beautiful animals. Id be happy to take the little fellow and take care of him.
