Go into paint and halve or quarter the size.
Image > stretch and skew > make 50% or 25% for both |

right click on the picture and scroll down till it says edit and click on it then save the pic as a "jpg" and it should down size the pic eg from 124 kb to 78 kb
or you can then minimize the picture also in edit mode (strecthing or minimizing)
