I took some bearded dragons to the AAE office at Sydney airport this afternoon, packed in containers inside a 6 pack esky.
They told me that as of tomorrow, 1.2.07, eskies and other polystyrene packaging would not be acceptable. In future, reptiles and all other animals must be packaged into a hard container that won't crush if a suitcase accidentally falls on it (no mention of calico bags - see yesterday's posts).
It may need to be icecream containers or small storage boxes in the future but they won't insulate the way eskies do so any bright idea will be gladly accepted.
I am glad I took them to AAE today and not tomorrow.
Cheers
Jenny

Perhaps line the inside of a storage box with polystyrene for the insulation

Why not use plastic storage tubs with holes drilled for ventilation and stuffed with news paper and a polystyrene box inside?

I use sistema tubs with holes drilled for the outer container and a chinese container with or without calico bag for the inner container. I also pack it with shredded paper for insulation and padding.

Hey guys
You"re missing the point "RIGID" plastic boxes (like cat & dog carriers)
Please don't waste a trip to the airport to be told "Rigid - because other stuff will be stacked on top of them)
My animals were in bags and plastic boxes inside the main sturdy plastic box.....still was not good enough
Hope this helps
Sandee
