Most, but not all snakes need to be bagged by the way, I rarely bag them (I got into an argument with a couple of staff recently over this issue It was the first I've had for quite a while ). A third staff member sorted it out by fetching the regulation book (which for some reason I'd never before been able to convince them to let me see!). I asked them to make a copy for me, it was an interesting read. It doesn't mention anything about polystyrene, and since the guidelines are international, it seems unlikely that they're suddenly going to change locally as they'd have to ammend what was clearly a big hassle to produce. Having said that, stranger things have happened. No doubt someone will be sending something tomorrow and we'll all hear about it if they try to use polystyrene and are refused | I had the same argument with the staff at the brisbane AAE and i was also printed a very large document with international requirements and a whole load of info totally irrelavant to the current situation.
Just shop around at the cheapy shops and when you see something buy it because you never have a good container when you need it.
It really depends on who you get on the day at the counter at AAE.
They make up there own rules sometimes im sure of it...
One good thing is though and that prices have come down on freight for snakes anyway.....

I have seen a poly box come from AAE that had been run over by a forkie/baggage handler. Besides the rules how much risk are you prepared to take.

I was at AAE today, they were accepting polystyrene boxes and none of the staff knew anything about any rumours about polystyrene no longer being accepted.
I was, however, told that live animals were no longer being accepted into the Gold Coast. I think it's highly likely that it was just another case of the staff who were there finding some doubt or difficulty and so saying "No, it's impossible" rather than sorting the problem out and getting the job done. It's common to talk to some idiot there who doesn't know what he or she is doing and often it is quite frustrating, but today was the first time for years I've been angry at the way the staff at Melbourne handled a problem face to face. On the phone yesterday I was told by AAE staff that freighting to the Gold Coast would be fine, so a snake was packaged and times were made, the snake had to be brought back and everyone's plans were killed.
Can anyone else confirm the story with the Gold Coast?
