Atm i have them in a 2 foot tank with two hides on under basking spot and one in cooler end, water dish in cool end and a log in the middle it is on reptile sand (desert red sand). Im using a 75w infrared globe to heat the tank.
* Should i be worried about impaction since im using desert sand, i was guna use paper but figured theyd enjoy sand more?????
* Whats the ideal temperature there basking spot should be at????
* how often should i feed them and how much???
* IS there anything other then crickets i'd be able to feed them???
* I have the globe about and inch above the glass ontop of the tank should i worry about the glass overheating and breaking???
* is a 75w globe enough to satisfy there heat requirements????
Sorry about the questions im a newb at keeping lizards and want to get it right. IF anyone would be able to point me in the direction a care sheet on them please let me know.
Please post pics of your Ackie setups if you could?
and lastly would someone give me a rough description of how to build a heat stack?
All help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
I'd post pics of my setup but i dunno how to resize photos so i can upload them here
EDit : Do i need to leave the heat on 24/7 or turn it down or off at night???
and with the 75w globe it only reaches upto 30 degrees in the basking spot im guesing ill need to up the wattage. Its a bummer though since i told the lady what i was keeping and thats what she gave me meh theese things happen.
End Rant
Cheers,
Matt

its all ways a good idear to do some homework before buying an animal.
the rest of the info and pics are in the other monitor threads just look for them

I was'nt actually planning on buying them i just had been wanting them for awhile and seen them at the show and had to have them. i asked how i'll need to keep them the breeder i got it off just said they like it hot pretty much not very detailed info... the people from extreme pets helped me out with setting up a basic tank for them though and im just on here asking about specifics. |

I know glass blocks uv but meh
Should i get a cage for the light before i put it inside the tank ???
Thanks for your help everyone keep it coming!!!

if the stack is only 10cm fropm the light won't they burn themselves? jumping up to the light?
what lights do you guys use to get the basking spot so hot
i've got a 100w tight beam basking spot in my snake tank, it gets upto 45* in there 15cm away

I was planning on building a stack when i had time, have a fair few floor tiles laying around the shed. how big should i make the gaps between the levels and how many levels should i make??

No hatchlings enjoy the heat and you will see them frequenting the basking site often during the day, as was mentioned a hot basking site is very important. Stacks are great but because ackies enjoy digging you have to secure the stacks in a way to stop the little guys from injurying themselves or becoming trapped.

One small problem though is the tank aint big enough to place the light inside the tank and keep 10 cm above the stack and i can't take the lids off coz i don't want them escaping.. I have a exoterra enclosure perfect size to be set up for my ackies but i have a bredli in it as im waitin for auzlizard king to finally deliver my enclosure. He was planning on delievering it thiss weekend last i heard havn't heard from him though. | | | |
