I wasn't expecting much, as I had heard it was quite small, but I really wanted to see the SA Woma's they have there, so made the effort.
Well, I was very impressed with it, I have seen alot of Zoo's across the world, and really thought this one was good.
It was small compared to alot, but they made alot of effort with the space they had to make the animals enclosures look as realistic as possible, with as much space as they could.
The reptile display was small, but again they made a good effort there, and there was some unusual exhibit's to be seen.
They have a breeding pair of Blood python's and young on display, SA woma's, a Huge Green Anaconda, Aligators, Giant tortoises, cobra's, dwarf blue tongues, Eastern Diamondback rattlers, amongst several others that I forget right now, worth the $15 entrance just to see them.
Some of the mammal cages are old style(metal fencing type), but it's quite nice really, as for instance, you can see clearly the lions and cubs, unlike Taronga's glass fronted displays.
They have great monkey exhibits, and some amazing birds on view.
All together a great little zoo! Highly recommend it if your down that way and have a few hours spare. |

And did you see the flamingos, hope I look that good at 70!
But it sounds you missed the best (non-herp) section, about 50 km east is the Monarto section where they have large African animals in huge enclosures. Every seen fifteen giraffes in a cage that looked too big for them? |

Yes, forgot to say about the GTP, wanted to see the Monarto section, but didn't have a car or time unfortunately.
Reptile 1989, Yes I know the Iguana, I think it was a fiji island iguana, very rare and highly endangered.
