Hey Dragon Lady!
I think (for memory!) it's 16... Don't quote me on that, but can certainly find out exactly for you - if my NPWS guy hasn't gone away...
Best,
Carolyn

If he is too young, just get the licence in your name.

Okay Dragon Lady, I've just been through all my legalities (info) I have here, there's nowhere on the application or in the information that specifies age limit... Also, forgot to mention before, it you guys only have ONE reptile, a permit is not required (SA only). If however you have say, a beardie, then your son wants to get a snake, he'll need to get a permit BEFORE the other animal can be purchased...
Rosemary, you're quite right with your suggestion, however, I have it on good authority, the DEH people are being "careful" with instances like these... apparently there have been a higher number of animals being "neglected"...
Hope this helps!
Best,
Carolyn
PS If you want the application for the permit, just PM me and I'll send it to you...

I have copies of applications, but not age limit ... all the reptiles are on my permit (log book) ,this is including the ones that are his... it bugs him!
As i did ,he wants his permit more than a drivers license ( he is 11)!!!!
He has 2 dragons , i have all the others.. sorry we share the youngest ,she is the families!

As for neglection...(by the way i dont take that negatively) he is brilliant.. ive taught him what i know & we discuss all health & husbandry issues..
he picks up on things quickly..& points out on coming problems
he also helps me from time to time when needed with rescued animals..sometimes its all hands on deck!

He just wants his own permit....so legally his kids(dragons & future snakes!) can be in his name

We breed together & i also breed with a friend .......using each others stock!
If its 16... he is going to drive me bonkers for another 5 yrs!!!!!! HELP

I heard in Vic the age is 10 & thought maybe its the same here!

you'll have more trouble getting 2 permits at the 1 address than you will an age thing!

WDR6, ditto what Dragon Lady said! Eggs in incubator, some due to hatch around 8th Feb, others will be later...
I don't part with any of my critters until they're 6weeks minimum, had fecals done, eating crix and salads on their own...
Hope this helps!
Best,
Carolyn

I don't think that there's an issue with having more than one license at an address. In fact, I would imagine that it would be better seeing as he is young (even tho he is probably more experienced, aware and enthusiastic than some people twice his age who frequent this website!) so then DEH will know that there is someone else who knows what they're doing and can help out if/when necessary.

Good luck!!
