i know a lot of us use the old F10 to disinfect everything, i first was introduced to this product at work, we use it to clean the dog pens. recently however we have swaped to a new poduct called TriGene on the advise of our vet. my understanding of it is basically that it does the same job provided you are letting it sit for the full 20 mins but costs a fair bit less (exactly what i'm not sure but enough for my boss to jump on it). i just thought i'd let people know about it/see if anyone is already using it and liking it
here's some more info on it http://www.medi-chem.com/Default.asp?Page=49

Tri-gene looks good - I just checked out some of their test work, and at 1:100 (stronger solution than F10) it deactivated the canine version of OPMV. It didn't state how long the contact time was, but if it's any less than half an hour it seems to be better than F10.

4mL = 1L | Wooops! I must have miscalculated as I was mixing 10ml per litre! (F10)
So far I've only used It It for soaking his Items In It, but
to use It too clean enclosure do I need to leave It 30 min after spraying before wiping It off??
Much appreciated |

Your mixing ratio is fine, the strongest mix suggested on the label is 1:125 i also
use the same slightly stronger ratio that your mixing at (1:100) purely for convenience.
Forensick's mix wouldn't be strong enough for nasties like OPMV etc.

Much appreciated | For water dishes, cage furniture and other instruments I soak for 20 - 30 minutes then rinse. For sealed timber enclosures you can either spray and wipe or, as I do, spray lightly and allow to dry. It will dry much faster than 20 minutes. It is not even necessary to remove the animal if you don't need to. For glass enclosures I add the F10 then fill up with water and leave to soak for 20 - 30 minutes then rinse out with the hose. |

| | | | Caution... G'day all,
Just a caution - the Trigene link pasted here is from the UK and is not the same Trigene as available here in Australia. We do not have the nanotech version shown on this link - anyone wanting info to confirm this should check the APVMA website www.apvma.gov.au and search "Trigene". This is still the old formulation.
Re F10 vs Trigene - Trigene not really cheaper if you consider dilutions required for specific pathogens! Certainly cheaper by the drum, but dilutions hold the key to actual usage cost so examine pathogen list carefully...if you can find OPMV that is...
I can't really say to much here without getting into trouble, but F10 is pretty much odourless which is also a big advantage...
Feel free to email queries etc.
Cheers,
Andrew Chalmers
