After what Jones of the Jungle said it probably would be a good idea to get an autopsy for OPMV done on the snake you had to get put down. Doesn't really sound like it had the symptoms though.
Just the fact that you have paid so much for these snakes and now have to pay the vet bills to get ALL of them check out is bad enough. Definately pursue getting your money back! Maybe a letter from a lawyer may prompt him to pay up. ARRR just so angry at this guy!  |

Deano i'm glad i read your post but i'm sorry for your loss. Mate i was only just talking to the missus about getting into a few of the nicer pythons and Woma's and Blackhead's where mentioned.
A pm with that TURDS basic details would help me to aviod a simialar drama..

Well it doesn’t look like ill be getting my money back, the seller (Jeff Stevens) reckons that he spoke to his solicitor and he said its out of his hands from the point of drop of and that I should of got insurance, he also reckons he took my vet report and showed his vet and they said that the symptoms could have been caused by heat when travelling, when my vet (Rob down at Penrith) said that she was defiantly sick before she went on the plane. Its going to cost me more money to take it to court so im just going to forget about it, I don’t want to loose any more money on this toss……..
So remember the name well dont deal with him, I don’t think ill ever get another animal interstate again from this experience………….

If an animal turns up sick or dead it's the sellers fault no doubt about it, unless the seller says that the buyer will have to freight at their own risk. Heat stress or not the seller packed the snakes etc, you didn't have any control over the packing or freighting.
Contact fair trading, they could probably help you out and you may not have to pay for it.

I won't ship if the weather is hot at either end of the journey!
I do not consider a foam esky on its own a suitable shipping container. When I have used them I have enclosed them in a ply box.
When importing animals I ask how they will be packaged and will not purchase them if I do not get the "right" answers.

I do have it in writing, but he also has one from his vet in writing, so it will just be a battle in court which will cost more money.................

Small claims shouldn't cost, it would pay to make a few phone calls before you give up on your hard earned $$$$. All the best with it.

I agree with Simone - he might just be trying to bluff you!! It may be worth having a chat with a solicitor to see were you stand. Thanks for putting up the name of this guy - I will definately remember it.
