No chemicals required, an agent will be acting on behalf of the company and they will be available this Spring, Summer. | Hazzard,
Good to hear mate.
It's good to have alternative choices in the market place, please post the results when you have them.

I saw five blue tongues this morning (not bad for ten minutes' herping in Melbourne's winter ), the three I had a close look at were covered in mites and I assume the other two I didn't bother to check were too. If you know anyone down here with the relevant permits you could quite easily collect as many mites as you like. I'm not sure what things are like in Sydney, but in Melbourne there are still some native parasitic mites which are common on reptiles and the snake mite (the one which people have trouble with in their collections) has become very common over the last ten or so years since it was introduced (thanks to relocations/releases/escapees). Some of the snake catchers down here frequently come across mite infested reptiles which need to be destroyed (because they can't be relocated), so perhaps one of them could help you out.

If they've been particularly annoying, ask for their telephone number, then place an ad in the pet section of the trading post along the lines of:
"Fuzzy Kwumpledumps for sale, adorable, affectionate pets, low maintenance, great with children, young available now, $5 each <their>"
Then kick back knowing that they won't be able to use their phone for the next couple of weeks. |

| | | | Of course mites exist in the wild, there are thousands of species of mites all over the world, most of our native reptiles would be targets for mites of one species or another, not just snake mites. The chances of picking up snake mites from branches, rocks etc is just about zero, but you will get them from another infested reptile, or another source which has been in contact with infested reptiles. The only snake mites I've seen in the past 10 years have been on pythons put up for sale to dealers in WA from CALM confiscations - the government body charged with conservation and overseeing the pet reptile trade in WA was selling mite-infested snakes to dealers and pet shops - work that out.
