We are heading to Barcaldine, Longreach area soon, I have never been past the gem fields. Is there anything to do in this area reptile related, we are also looking at maybe buying out next snake on the trip as we like to see and hold before we buy, we also like to pick up not transport. Anyone know of anything for sale or any shops or places worth visiting in the area? We still have a long wish list of snakes so a nice nature and something still small enough to fit into a 3 foot enclosure is the main critea. Feel free to PM me if you like, Im not sure I have this in the right area so sorry if its wrong. Any advice would be great.

|  | Regular Member | Join Date: May-06 Location: Brisbane Gender:  | | | | If you're after wild reptiles, I'm not sure the weather will be particularly good at this time of year. Diurnal stuff will still be out and about, but night time temps might be a bit low.
If you're after pet stores that sell reptiles, you might find it hard to find anything in the middle of woop-woop where you'll be. I haven't heard of any stores in the Longreach/Barcaldine, but that's not to say they don't exist.

We will be going through a few towns on the way so if anyone live in the area with any local knowledge that can help, I am willing to stop somewhere on the way there, I have heard that Emerald has a pet shop and some local breeders that sell reptiles is it worth looking at? I don't like to buy snakes without seeing them so I don't want to miss a rare opportunity as I am sure It will be a while before I go back that way.
