If you really want to know, I'd suggest waiting more than 17 minutes for an answer.

Lost, I think that the question you are trying to get across, is more like 3 or 4, but it is something I have been thinking about.

This is a topic which taxonomists probably couldnt agree on, let alone backyard herpetologists. When the morelia was broken up by taxonomists, the different sub-species would have been distinguished by either being geographically isolated, and/or physiologically different. The thing with athertons vs jungles is that Jungles (cheyeni) inhabit the same areas as the coastal (mcdowelli), hence taxonomists would have had to rely on physiological differences to distinguish them apart.

Now lets throw the spanner in the works. Athertons actually come from within the jungles known range, yet are quite physically different from jungles. So are they both jungles? I havent heard any solid proof of one or the other ( not to say that the information isnt out there, just I havent seen it). It seems in this hobby, alot of what we call our animals is all made up by us with no real censorship eg. hybrid vs intergrade, which by definitions of the words mean nothing different, but come on this site and call someones intergrade a hybrid, and thems fighting words.

I am interested to hear from others and their views on this topic.

regards
Simon
