Att. Jeff Hardy

Howdy Jeff and everybody else, I've got to say I find the NSW import/export permit system to be huge pain in the cloaca!
Why can't we have a system like Queensland? I'm not fully up to speed on their system but it seems the basics of it is that they get a book of movement advices and send in each individual movement advice slip after each sale or purchase. ie no waiting for an officer to process the document and send out the permit.
Would be much more efficient I reckon. What do all you other blues supporters reckon?

So fix that up for us will you Jeff?

That would be great, but i don't think Jeff has a say in the matter unfortunately.

After living in both states, I agree Fishead. Would be nice just to go along and buy a book like I used to in QLD....somewhat cheaper as well

ACT licences are different too.You have to own an exempt reptile for 2 years before you can get a reptile permit. But the ACT permit covers import and export so there are no extra fees.It has its ups and downs.

Howdy Mrbredli, I just thought if enough of us made enough noise about it the powers that be might hear it and Jeff's would be a good ear to yell in.
I've got no problems with paying the $20 (probably costs npws more than that in admin - like I said inefficient ) it's just the hassle involved that urinates me. A one off sale or purchase now and then is pretty easy with the current system but sell a few critters in the space of a few days and things get a bit tedious.
Just my opinion

I don't mind paying the money but it is a big hassle, having to get one for each person/species your selling/buying is a bit silly, i would like to see something like the movement advices in QLD, just buy a book of them and then send them in when you sell or buy an animal.
It takes along time to get them back, which gets annoying, another reason why the QLD movemet advices are good.

I think $20 is a bit steep but i think we have the best license setup out of all the states so i'm not gunna complain about that.

I didn't find it a hassle when getting one a few months ago. Sent in the form with all the details, one week later, permit in the mail. Done.

I was surprised though, that there was no checking of the import on behalf of AAE, or Customs.

I think this would be a good idea. This is one of the reasons why I prefer not to sell interstate. One off is ok but if say i was to sell a clutch of bredli's (27 hatchies), sell 10 over 2 weeks, that's a lot of time wasted for a return on Import / Export permits. If we bought a book of 20 (discounted price $300  ) I could fill in the required details and post this when I got to the AAE terminal sending the little fella to its new owner.

Beautiful, too easy

NSW is a breeze compared to WA, so don't complain... you don't want the NSW bureaucrats thinking they're missing out on revenue! In WA, to export, you have to provide at least 5 days notice, there's a $150 licence fee and a $30 processing fee (whatever that is!) to export the first 5 animals, then $10 per animal for more than 5. If it arrives out of business hours and you want to pick up the animal or bird before 7.30am, or after 4.30pm there is a $380 out-of-hours inspection fee - what a load of crap. Really an outrageous rip-off. Enjoy your life in NSW and DON'T COMPLAIN!

Cheers, Jamie.

I've heard in the past that WA was painful Jamie...I had no idea it was THAT bad! We really do have it easy here in QLD

Oh yeah, the $380 inspection fee is for imports... sorry. They collect both ways in WA... I LOVE living in NSW now!

Customs?

They're only interested in imports from Overseas.
