ATTN Sunshine Coast Members!!!!!

Hi Guys,
I need some urgent assistance with an enclosure! I posted a thread asking for suggestions on how to convert an old entertainment cabinet into a safe and secure enclsoure for my maccy recently!
I'm having trouble with the door, we tried using rubber hose and unfortunately it left gaps that we couldn't fill. I'm not very handy with hardware stuff or building anything so I need HELP URGENTLY!!!! We spoke to some cabinet makers and joiners and they wanted $200 for a door... aaaarrrggghh!!! How rediculous!
Anyway I've attached a photo below and I need someone on the sunshine coast to help me with a door asap as I have my maccy in a click clack and she's just a touch too big for it and she's used to more space!
She's been moved out of her original enclosure as we purchased another maccy who was alot smaller than her (and I won't house them together) so we put her in one of our new enclsoures, only thing was she found a spot to escape!!! We tried to fix it up but it's just not secure enought for me to trust putting her back in there so we had this unit sitting around the shed. We have bought peg board backing for it and the light fitting but we've gotten to the door and just don't know what to do!
I'm sorry about the long post but if ANYONE can help me can you please PM me! I really need something by this weekend, IF POSSIBLE!
Thanking you all in advance for your help
Cheers,
Mell

Yeah sorry I do mean the front door. I want to use the glass that's already there but take it out and make a whole new door for it with a wooden frame so I can lock it shut.
I know this may sound stupid and you make it sound so simple but when you say nail some trim on the glass.... can you give me some more info??? As I said I'm NOT handy at all so I need to be stepped through your idea. I also don't know where to get the wood from?? We've tried Bunnings, Mitre 10 and Melco but we can't seem to find what we think we need.
Thanks,
Mell

ok, i'll try to make this make sense.... sorry now if it doesnt!!!

get some small bits of wood.... nail them into the enclosure sides just behind the door, so that when the door shuts it will shut right up against the door, leaving no gaps.....

i'll quickly do up a picture in paint if i can to show you what i mean!

Matt

just like 2cm square bit of wood thats long enough to be nailed on the inside of the 4 edges of the glass door (im guessin the door opens out) lol like a lip on the inside of the glass nailed to the actual wall of the enclosure... maybe a bit of dowel cut to length... how big is the gap?? lol that might help

Man you guys are legends!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
That sounds soooo simple... something that even I could do!! hehe!
Yes Matt it made perfect sense!

So it will seal up the gaps?? What about the current hinges and magnet lock it has on it? How do I go about getting around them? I need there to be no gaps as she's a little rebel and will find even the smallest gaps!
Thanks for your help!

ok im lost on that one you could possibly just take the hindges n magnets off and make a wooden frame the way that moreliamatt described and silicone the glass to that and have it fit really tight.... possibly have the wood on the out side and drill a hole thru the inside of the frame into the actual cabinet and have lil pins in all four sides to keep it on

it wouldnt be hard to cut around the magnet latch and chisel out a section for the hinges.... however, depending on exactly how the door opens will depend if you will get a seal when closed on the hinge side.....?

another option would be to put a wooden "frame" around the front of the door, nailed on to the cabinet itself, with any gaps between the glass and the frame filled with silicone.... and then hinge the pegboard back for a door.....?

just a few more options to think about!

ahh and also for my 2 cents..... i'd remove the wheels and tip it on its side!! have more ground room than height! but thats just me!

good luck!
