Hmmm, this is rather interesting.
Some of you already know that I am a manager for Australia Post.
Yes, it is legal to send harmless insects through the mail (bees, crickets, silkworms). We get a lot of queen bees through our centre.
Any parcel containing live insects has to be marked accordingly. The parcels are then treated differently and not with the regular mail.
Mick, if you send me this guys details, I will pass them on to corporate security. All airmail is now x-rayed, a snake would show up quite easily.Sending it by normal mail would probably be a death sentence for the snake. They would freeze in the back of our trucks or get squashed in the sorting machinery.
I think NPSW would also be interested in hearing about this guy.

No problems I have Just spoken on the phone to him he said that he never knew there was a problem with it and will not do it anymore
as its against there regulations .
He is unable to frieght a one off snake by air due to the considerable expense incurred by himself (2 hour drive to airport +fuel )
That is fair he would if i was to buy in bulk which is not a option for me as i only need one and then another unrelated one to make a pair . also He did not send them in a envelope they were packaged well in hard plastic containers and inside boxes also inside a calico bag
Thanks for all your help Cheers Mick

It would be hard to sell all your animals if you are not willing to travel a little. Not everyone buy's bulk.
May have lost himself a sale then.
Not to worry it is his choice i spose.
Good to see he won't transport them this way again.I hope he won't.$60 isn't that much for such wicked creatures.

True robert but it is alot of time and fuel to use on selling one snake that makes it well over half a day by the time you count the travel 2 hours there and 2 hours back +whatever it takes to get them on the plane maybe 1 hour + the fuel if thats approx 350 -400 ks return in my car that would be about 30 dollars count my time at $20 an hour we are looking at a figure of about 130 dollars so he would get 55 dollars for the snake probably not worth it !

Basically he said he did not know and was suprised to see it in that page you linked and then had a very nice general discussion about various snakes He sounded like a great bloke i would like to get to know him if he was up here

I'm glad to hear he has changed his mind. If you saw the inner workings of Australia Post you would never send your snake through them. AAE is not much better sometimes. I have had snakes come down from Sydney in the back of a truck.
What the hell did I pay $70 for? That really makes me cranky.

Glad to be of service
And its good to know that someone actually reads my ravings.
Looks like he will either have to sell local or sell the lot to a dealer or pet shop. Unfortunatly the latter means he would get the rock-bottom price.
