Australian Air Express.......... This will relate mainly to herpers in Qld.
Of late there has been several threads about AAE not allowing reptiles to be consigned to regional airports.
A few weeks ago I asked for and received a photo copy of the new rules and changes from Qantas.
The following is part of what I was given.
"At this period of time, Qantaslink will not accept reptiles for carriage on their aircraft, as 6.9.2 of the Flight Administration Manual states, that reptiles are not classified as domestic animals.
To resolve this issue, the management are having discussions with the chief pilots.
I will advise all when something comes to hand.
In the meantime, I have spoken to the management of Pel Air and KR & S Transport, who have advised that they will accept reptiles on the metro aircraft and the linehaul (trucks)
Pel Air operates flights, Brisbane, Rockhampton, Mackay, (100 dep)
KR & S operate linehauls, Bris, Rockhampton, Gladstone on Monday-Thursday nights all departing at 2200 hours, plus a adhoc Bris, Maryborough, Harvey Bay, Bundy linehaul on Monday-Thursday nights, dept 2330 "
This memo is dated 6.6.07 and other than me wishing I had a scanner I hope it clarifies things.
