We went to the Australian Reptile Park today and took our boy and young nephew and we were very very disappointed to say the least. I haven't been there for years and thought that after the fire in 2000 they would have ade some improvements in the place. While it was raining today it became clearly evident how little shelter there is while making your way around the property. Also the kids were hungary and when we went to the shop to get them a little cup of chippies we were informed that she wasn't going to cook anything today?? WHat the? Not even a hot dog. She told us we could have pies. Well We got four pies and one sausage roll as that was the only hot food she had and when I say the only hot food I mean the only hot food. We cleaned her out with that purchase and even they were that cold. The brother-in-law bought two salad rolls and one had ice in the middle while the second was so stale it hurt to be hit with it? We went to watch the reptile talk and were once again bitterly disappointed by what we seen as it was being done by a young lady who appeared to be more interested in playing silly buggers with her young male counter part then giving the talk. The people there were getting some what lost with her talk as she chopped and changed direction every three seconds and basically left everyone lost for direction. Anyway that's my lttle winge for the week so thanks for your company.

I went the a week ago and was very impressed to say the least.
Nice 'n' clean with some very nice enclosures for the animals. The shows were very interesting (The reptile shows were done by a older man who was very entertaining and funny) and the spider shows were done by a guy who certainly knows his stuff.
Reptiles cages were great and their reptile room was amazing to say the last. I did think their croc cages were a tad small but i don't know much about them. They had a wide range of lizards and snakes such as green tree python, carpets, browns etc etc They also including exotics such as igunanas including a batch they bred themselves, chamelions, vipers and heapsn of other things.
I have some pictures I'll try upload if people are keen though they are crap quality.
There was certaining hot food available when i went there. Hotschips, pies, salads, numerous other hot foods and plenty of drinks were available. I suppose when i think about it there was hardly and shelter that i could see, but I'm sure if you were to have commented about it someone would have directed you to shelter.

There was some nice Herps there and that is why I went but the thing is that I wasn't alone.. We had the kids with us and the other adults went so the kids could enjoy it so I was disappointed that they were also disappointed (if you know what I mean) By lack of shelter I refer to the lack of it covering the pathways. While no one can control the weather it would have been good to be able to walk around with something above your head. Their indoor enclosures are nice and quality work and they have some nice Herps in there especially three awesome rough scales (wow I so want one) but that is only one section of the park. The young lass giving the talk had informed everyone that the management were not on premises at that point in time so that's why they were messing around a bit. I truly believe the lady may indeed know her stuff but she needed to expres it to the public better. If we ever gave our talks in that manner we would never have been invited back any where.

Sounds about as good as their snakeranch website then, 3 weeks of being scr**ed around to buy a couple of snakes. After an email i offered to call directly but the salesperson was yet to have their own "work" number, seems they've obviously lost my mobile number as well. |

Follow up on my last post.
The snakeranch crew has responded quickly with an explanation of the curly events surrounding the situation. They are very keen to put things right so i'm happy with that.

I went to the reptile park two years ago and liked it. Sorry to hear that things seem to have gone downhill since then. |

When I went it was really good, but same as nickamon- it was a couple of years ago. Maybe they were "recovering" from the school holidays? Not much of an excuse, and it's sad to hear you and the kids didn't enjoy it

Hmmm seems a bit strange. Maybe they were having a rough day. lol. Everytime i have gone there, and it would be over 10 times now, i have thought it was a great day out with plenty to see and do.
