beardie help

today she was fine, and now her back right while the tail is about to start is caved in, and she seems to be paralysed in the back legs, and is twitching when she tries to move, she has air, food, water etc. could it be she has become dehydrated after the heat today?? she doesnt look like she is going to make it through the night

How old is the dragon, and what size food have you been feeding it?

It doesn't sound great. What are your temps (basking spot and cool end). Can it submerge itself in the water in the hot weather? (should be very shallow dish for young ones). Is the heat on a thermostat?

food problem.. what size food are you feeding it because thats the one problem i hear about a lot!! if you give it some heat for the whole night then it should be ok in the morning although im not 100% sure... provide it with water and dont feed it again for about 4-5 days maybe even a week and definatly go down a food size..

No thermostat and not sure of temps you keep at - that quite possibly sounds like your problem right there! Put it this way, inside today, my heatlights were off most of the day. If your 8 week old was getting additional heat inside the enclosure, its very easily overheated. Yes, food is also too big, it could be impacted.

Did you research before buying your beardie?

You need to buy a thermostat and get your heat sorted mate.

Are the crickets smaller than the space between her eyes?

And you should probably think about monitoring her tank temperatures.

it wouldnt be the heat as much as the food size..

try giving your beardie a warm bath now and provide it was some heat during the night and dont feed it for about 1 week.. give her a massage on her stomche now and try let her make a poop..

send in a pic of her with a cricket next to her.. MrsB has a good point here. the food size must at most be the space between the eyes until it reaches the age of about 1 year then it can take prey much much larger..

ok.. does she still look really bad? if so then just give her a light rub on the tummy just so maybe she might take a poo and get rid of all the yucky stuff that is causing some paralysis.. this could take some time but its best not to feed her anymore til around monday next week..
