beardie, scales changed colour and slighlty raised.

Hi Guys,

One of my dragons has got some scales on its nose that have changed colour and become slightly raised and shiny.

I have only been into herps for about a year and am wondering if this is worth worrying about. The scales look OK just a bit different to the other white scales, starting to shed maybe?

You can sort of see in the pic on it's nose


I keep my cage very clean and change the sand every month or two, has anyone had a similar issue with their beardies?

He is just shedding that area. Will take usually a couple of weeks before the old scales come away. In the meantime that area will be ghostly looking, nothing to worry about.

does he constantly walk up and down the cage rubbing his nose on the glass ?
cos it could be from rubbing it

his nose does look like its about to shed,..it takes a bit longer as they get older.

Thanks heaps guys, love these things as pets, such character! Wouldn't want anything to happen to him/her.
