However i', asking the question, who uses what as a substrate for there beardies?
We currently have 3 beardies almost 11 months old in a 6ft x 2ft tank, we are using washed sand and find it ok, no probs, however lately the female (think??) keeps trying to dig in the sand, only to find the bottom of the tank.
Any ideas or pics of set up's would help greatly.
P.s. I know, sorry to have to drag you away from the Bathurst.

Newspaper is cheap and easy to clean, although it doesn't look as nice as astroturf.
The astroturf looks great, but it's good to have a spare piece so that when one piece gets soiled and needs to be removed for cleaning, you've got a fresh piece ready to go. It's also a bit of a pain having to take the astroturf out almost daily, hosing it down and hanging it up to dry. At least with the newspaper you can just remove it and throw it away, then chuck some fresh stuff down
Here's a couple pics of some of my enclosures:

I think you'll find that it is quite possible for her to be gravid at 11mths - depends on size and growth rate...

Most the time Beardy poo dries pretty quickly so you can just vacume it up for a spot clean then once a week, or whenever needed, take it out and give it a good wash.
