Beardies will often show off their brightest colours when they are feeding, basking, or flirting with another beardie hehe.

Yep my Pyro goes from a dirty, ruddy brown to a gorgeous bright orange. If you saw him when he was all cold and grumpy, you wouldn't even know it was the same dragon!

You don't have your ten-month-old female in with your cousin's male do you?

Here's a few photos of Phoenix, just to show you how much variation she gets in her colour.

You'll have to excuse the first photo, she thought it would be fun to go swimming in a bath (aka water dish) full of bok choy LOL - she's a strange creature sometimes

wow, shes psychodelic, and yeh, my guy goes from grumpy brown to excuberant yellow. hes brightest when sleeping, and feeding; hes still a virgin, so no naughty bussiness, not old enough yet.
otherwise, just wanted to know if there was any way to make him brighter or more amazing, but if its all down to genes than the best i can do is keep him happy, and spoil him incesantly
